Massacre in Eastern DRC: FARDC and FDLR Accused of Attacking Civilians in Goma Region
Four Civilians Killed, Three Seriously Injured in Early Morning Raid
Goma, DRC – August 25, 2025 – A deadly overnight attack allegedly carried out by forces loyal to the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), including the national army FARDC and rebel groups such as FDLR, has left four civilians dead and several others wounded near the city of Goma.
According to a statement issued by Lawrence Kanyuka, spokesperson for the AFC/M23 coalition, the assault took place at approximately 2:30 AM (local time) in the heavily populated areas of Kibati, Munigi, and surrounding districts of Goma.
> “In the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2025, at around 2:30 AM, a coalition of forces aligned with the blood-stained regime in Kinshasa — composed of FARDC, FDLR, Mai-Mai, Wazalendo, and Nyatura — launched coordinated attacks on civilian-populated areas,” Kanyuka stated.
The assault reportedly resulted in the deaths of four innocent civilians, with three others seriously injured. The incident adds to the growing concerns over the security situation in North Kivu, where clashes between government forces and armed groups have displaced thousands in recent months.
Call for International Attention
In his statement, Kanyuka called on international human rights organizations and the global community to take immediate action and condemn what he referred to as "crimes against humanity" being perpetrated by the Kinshasa regime and its allied militias.
> “These are blatant violations of international humanitarian law. The silence of the world is empowering the perpetrators,” he emphasized.
No official response has yet been issued by the DRC government or the FARDC regarding these latest accusations.
This incident marks yet another tragic chapter in the ongoing conflict in Eastern Congo, where power struggles, ethnic tensions, and competition over natural resources continue to fuel violence and instability.
They have to search the way of protecting the people of that area because they are innocent at all.
