Dear Sir,

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Rwanda Office presents its compliments to the Ministry of Education and takes this opportunity to inform you that JICA offers seats to the Republic of Rwanda for the above-mentioned program.

The ABE Initiative is a program providing youths in Africa with opportunities to study for a master's degree at Japanese universities and experience internships at Japanese companies. The objectives of the program are to support young people who are willing to contribute to the development of industries in Africa and could become the bridge between Africa and Japan in business relationships.

In Rwanda, this year, candidates can be from the private sector as well as the public sector in the following areas: ICT, Agriculture, Energy, Transport, Education, Water & Sanitation, Disaster Risk Management and Health, based on Japan's Country Assistance Policy for Rwanda. The selection process is competitive with some screenings. Successful applicants will join the program between September 2026 and August 2028 (in principle) in Japan. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

This program, called the African Business Education Initiative for Youth (ABE Initiative), offers young people in Africa the chance to pursue a master's degree at a Japanese university and gain work experience through an internship at a Japanese company




African Business Education Initiative for Youth (ABE Initiative). This program offers young people in Africa the chance to pursue a master's degree at a Japanese university and participate in an internship at a Japanese company.

The program's main goals are to support young individuals who are committed to the growth of industries in Africa and to act as a bridge for business relations between Africa and Japan.

For Rwanda, candidates from both the private and public sectors are eligible to apply, with a focus on the following fields:

·       ICT

·       Agriculture

·       Energy

·       Transport

·       Education

·       Water & Sanitation

·       Disaster Risk Management

·       Health

The selection process is competitive, involving several screenings. Successful applicants will be in Japan for the program from September 2026 to August 2028. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
