Loan
Officer who will be based at a branch
office. Your main responsibilities will include managing existing clients and
loan portfolios, creating your own portfolio, and reducing overdue loans. The
role requires you to work with low-income entrepreneurs, primarily female, to
provide microfinance loans and promote financial inclusion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Client Acquisition &
Relationship Management:
Recruit and screen potential clients, conduct door-to-door visits, explain
loan products, and mobilize savings.
- Loan Processing & Portfolio
Management: Process loan applications,
verify income, conduct credit checks, and ensure timely loan approvals and
disbursements. You will also build and maintain a quality loan portfolio
with regular follow-ups.
- Monitoring, Recovery &
Reporting: Monitor loan utilization,
conduct field visits for recovery, manage delinquent accounts, and prepare
performance reports.
- Customer Service &
Financial Education:
Provide professional customer service and educate clients on loan terms,
responsible borrowing, and financial literacy.
Required
Qualifications
To be considered for this position,
you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree with a first-class or second-class
upper grade in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration,
Microfinance, Banking, or a related field. A diploma or certificate in
Microfinance/Banking or Credit Management is an advantage.
- Experience: At least two years of experience in a microfinance
institution, SACCO, or community banking, with a focus on loan
disbursement and recovery. Experience working with low-income or rural
populations is highly desirable.
- Age: Maximum 28 years old.
- Skills: You need a strong knowledge of microfinance principles
and credit risk analysis, proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT), and
the ability to analyze financial statements of small businesses.
- Other: You must be willing to travel extensively in rural or semi-urban
areas and have a valid motorcycle driving license (an added value). Proficiency
in English and Kinyarwanda is required, and French is an added advantage. You
must also be ready to provide two guarantors if you pass the test.
